Self Enjoyment when I’m Alone
It was raining for the past many days. Mum said it is Monsoon season.
Again, working until 5+pm close to 6pm hoping the rain would become drizzy, or stop completely.
Nope, it didn’t. It was a heavy down pour at 6pm at NTU. I forgot my umbrealla.
MSNed my friend in school for dinner. Nope, not free.
Another friend in school was going home for dinner, should have told her earlier.
SMSed my angel in hall to check if he could be my saviour. Nope, he was out.
Thoughts were running across my mind on my way walking towards Canteen A,
- Have dinner/eat fruits at Canteen A and wait for the rain to stop.
- Take a shuttle bus to go back hall and eat oatmeal to save $.
- Take a shuttle bus to Canteen 2 to eat Redbean/Peanut Waffles.
I reached Canteen A Bus Stop unknowingly and still couldn’t make up my mind. Shuttle bus not in sight but here came 179. Instinctively boarded the bus even i knew that i would be going there, alone and not really sure what do I want to do.
I couldn’t recall when was the last time that i did such thing. Neither could i remember when was the last time i went to town. I couldn’t even remember when was the last time i go window shopping aimlessly but carefreely without time constraint. I wonder was it in July, when I was working as telemarketer? That was the only time I remember i had all the time in the world to ask friend out for dinner and such. It’s been a while huh?
It was chaotic at the passageway towards JP. Narrow sheltered way with a major human traffic jam. It was due to the puddle of water at the side of the pathment and there was a handicapped uncle right in the middle of the path singing and playing guitar.
Took some time to walk the 50m distant, but i had the time. From Breadtalk, Giordano, Perlini’s Silver, to Casio, Swatch, Moshi Moshi etc., I visited each and everyone of them in JP.
I also visited Esprit and saw a really nice handbag, available in white and grey colour. Both are really nice! But it came with a cost too. Too Ex for me. I could only feed my eyes with it. But it was enough for me. As usual-lah.
I was in time to catch Tom & Jerry live show. It was funny and it reminded me how my brother & I love to watch the cartoon together when we were young. Made full use of my hp recording function, video’ed it down for self-entertaining in future.
Oh ya, i hadn’t finish my Christmas Shopping. My Godmummy and my good friend’s birthday cum x’mas gifts still on the list.
Oops…Quickly did some Christmas shopping, decided to buy perfume for my Godmummy. It was really hard to choose because i was not sure what kind of fragrant she liked. After multiple times of smelling MANY MANY fragrances, i finally set my eyes on Kylie Minogue’s Darling. Then I saw something which my friend requested from me a long long time ago so I bought it though i knew it was overpriced.
As my usual self, I rather spend my money earned on others than on myself. I was pretty well supplied or i didn’t have much needs. God supplies it all, Amen!
But, I was hungry… and actually i was craving for something…
TUNG YUAN !!!
I couldn’t resist my craving. It led me to Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao. If it was my oldself, before i had the current job, i wouldn’t even have the thought of coming to Crystal Jade. I must count everything to the cents before i spend. Seriously, I really thank God for blessing me in every area of my life, financially, friends, church etc. I’m so much more blessed financially than i used to be two and a half years ago when i first came to Singapore.
Digress… That’s another story all together. Anyway, served and sitted, the waitress was suprised i was alone. Seldom she sees people coming alone, i supposed.
Sitted and started looking around, La Mian and Xiao Long Bao are the most frequent ordered dishes. Stomach growling. Feeling slightly hungry. Browsing through the menu. La mian was calling out for me but i doubted, i was almost 100% certain i couldn’t finish one bowl when i’m hungry. Let alone i wasn’t that hungry! Suddenly i missed my eating partner, who could wallop almost everything that I couldn’t finish.
After some good 5-10 mins, i sticked back to my original plane. I ordered 姜茶汤圆 Sweet Glutinous Dumpling in Ginger Soup $3.50, served hot. I waited for almost 10-15 mins for its arrival. As usual, took some picture while waiting. Again i took the picture of it before i started consuming it. Hardcore blogger. New found interest in blogging ok?

姜茶汤圆 Sweet Glutinous Dumpling in Ginger Soup came with only two glutinous tang yuan in it. *disappointed* I thought there should be three. Not sure. Never eaten.
The ginger soup was concentrated and slightly oversweet but with a very nice fragrance in it. Nice and delicious nontheless. The ginger soup tasted tangyly fresh and it was brown in colour. I supposed they cooked the ginger soup upon order using fresh ginger (by pounding it?) and they used brown or red sugar instead of the nromal white sugar. The 汤圆 tang yuan was soft with black sesame fillings and the skin wasn’t too thick. It was made closed to perfection. Most probably it was handmade tang yuan because most packet tang yuan’s skin were too thin and they couldn’t hold the ingredients inside so the paste would burst out upon the first bite. This one, you could still chew the QQ skin made with glutinous rice flour.
A simple hot dessert that had won my heart over since young!
It was a pleasant me and myself session. I had a good time with myself, with lots of window shopping and eating one of my favourite food. I love my simple way of life.
Who says one can’t have fun with oneself ???
PS: I wanted to buy loaf bread from Crystal Jade My Bread because of its discount after 8.30pm but it was almost sold out. I think it is the Prima Deli after effect.
PPS: Spending is a lot easier than the earning process. Christmas is a season of buying. So many people on my Christmas list… *cry*
